Amity - It’s Not Therapy.
But it is Therapeutic.

Are you ready to find your tribe?

To combat loneliness and isolation,
we need to do something different

Humans are wired for connection – and yet, we are the loneliest we have ever been. Really lonely. Men and women, old and young, rich or poor— loneliness and isolation are affecting us all. No one is an island. We all need a support structure and belonging. We all need dependable friends who will both share AND listen. Who offer to help us move furniture or watch the baby. Who invite us out and notice when we’re not there. We all need the tribe.

At Amity, we understand the impact of big life transitions. Here are just a few of the changes we have navigated (and we bet you have too):

  • Parenthood - becoming a new mom or dad

  • Relocation - new city, new home

  • Divorce and blended families

  • Career change

  • College or university enrollment

  • Lifestyle adjustments

  • Scheduling hassles with old friends

All of us need a circle of friends who understand us during times of change. But the truth is, if we want deeper connections, we can't keep swiping and ghosting. We have to show up. We have to do something different.

So, let’s do something different.

Amity creates small circles for people who want to connect in person. People who understand what you are going through. Neighbors who want to develop common interests, have more fulfilling conversations, and have some fun. New friends who understand that life is meant to be experienced alongside others, not all alone. Our concept is simple: 6 people meet once weekly for 6 weeks. You’ll complete your circle with 5 new connections, a safety net, and a renewed sense of belonging. And we feel confident you will keep hanging out once your circle is finished.6 + 6 = 5.That’s our math. We invite you to check our work. Are you ready to find your tribe?

How It Works

01

Sign Up to Join a Circle

Let us know when and where you are available, what your interests are, and a little about yourself. We'll do our Amity magic so that you can do yours.

02

Choose a Circle

We’ll provide you with several options of Amity circles to join that fit your schedule and interests. You choose one (or more) and prepare to enjoy the conversation.

03

Meet Your Circle

Show up. Be curious. Have fun. And let yourself be seen. Your circle will receive weekly suggestions and challenges to facilitate deeper connection, and one group member will be empowered to pick a preferred meeting spot each week.

My Circle is Complete
So, Then What?

After the final week of your Amity circle, you have an abundance of options.

1. If you click with all the members of your circle, you can simply move the conversations offline! That would make us at Amity extremely happy – it means you found your tribe!

2. You can also sign up for a new weekly group to meet other Amity members, building your circle even further. And there is no limit on the number of groups you can join at any given time.

3. You can even select specific Amity members to join you in your next group (assuming they agree!). Doing so allows you to create your own community, one group experience at a time.

You are not alone. Your circle awaits.

The Relationship Artist = You

Building real relationships takes time. It takes effort. It’s not those cheap ramen noodles from a packet. Sure, they taste OK and take five minutes, but they leave you wanting something more. No, the really good stuff in life takes more than that. Authentic connections require repetition, reciprocity, and nourishment. If we want strong relationships, we have to show up, listen to one another, share our story, and develop common interests. We have to be honest. And that’s our mission at Amity – creating honest opportunities for people to build their circle. Amity brings people together in small groups (circles) of 6 for 6 weeks. Every circle member will lead and participate, drive the conversation, open one another’s minds, and learn something new. You’ll laugh a bit, possibly complain some, explore self doubt and fear, find common joy, and leave feeling a part of something bigger. You’ll have a sense of belonging to a new community. And the more you show up, the closer those connections can become. Is making new friends easy? Yes and no. There are no guarantees in life. But, we believe there are necessary ingredients to cooking a better soup: Authenticity, reciprocity, mutual support, frequency of contact, proximity to one another, shared interests, and fun. But relationship building is not a science. Otherwise, NASA would be running our restaurants.
No, relationship building is an art. You are the artist. We provide the materials. And we don’t care how well you draw, just as long as you come as you truly are.

Power to the People

Amity is built to bring people together. And we believe our collective human desire to make friends – for belonging – is so strong that people are ready to try something new. Where old school values of in-person camaraderie meets the modern convenience. Where signing up means showing up. Where each member of the circle is willing to lead as well as listen. In relationships, we are seeking equality. Reciprocity is critical. We each do our part to foster the friendship. Otherwise, it’s a one-sided relationship. By having each circle member lead one weekly gathering during the 6-week circle, everyone contributes. No one person carries the weight of the relationship. Without that burden, we can just focus on having some fun.No group facilitators. No whiteboards, smart boards, chalkboards, or flip boards. That’s not how we connect in the real world. So let’s see what we learn about our city, our neighbors, and ourselves. The power is in your hands.
